Pricing a digital template pack: what actually works

The instinct when a template isn't selling is to drop the price. Sometimes that's right. Usually it isn't.

What we see moving the needle instead:

  • A cover image that shows the actual product being used, not just a mockup
  • A short description that names the specific problem it solves
  • A price that matches the category — a five-page Notion doc at $79 will sit next to fifty-page kits at $19 and lose every time

Look at how templates sit next to pre-built websites in the same shop. A Notion kit and a live restaurant site are not the same product, and they should not be priced like they are.

None of this means price doesn't matter. It means price is usually the third or fourth lever, not the first one. If the file itself is thin, no discount saves it — we wrote about that in how we vet seller submissions.
